Our interactive newspaper E-Tone® is on its Sukkot vacation, however due to the circumstances related to the release of a video
tape of our captured soldier Gilad Shalit, we have decided to publish a special E-Tone® issue dedicated to Gilad Shalit. 

This special issue has not been processed for lower levels of Hebrew as usual.

Below you will find the Hebrew text of Gilad's message followed by the English translation.

אֲנִי גִלְעָד בֵּן נוֹעַם וְאָבִיבָה שַׁלִּיט, אָח שֶׁל הֲדַס וְיוֹאֵל שֶׁגָּר בְּמִצְפֶּה הִילָּה.

Hello,

I am Gilad – son of Noam and Aviva Shalit, brother of Hadas and Yoel, who lives in Mitzpe Hilla.
My ID number is 300097029. Today in Monday September 14^th, 2009.

כְּפִי שֶׁאַתֶּם רוֹאִים אֲנִי מַחֲזִיק בְּיָדִי אֶת הָעִיתּוֹן פָּלֵסְטִין שֶׁל הַיּוֹם 14.9.2009 הַיּוֹצֵא בְּעָזָה.
אֲנִי קוֹרֵא בָּעִיתּוֹן בְּמַטָּרָה לִמְצוֹא מֵידָע לְגַבַּי, וּמִקְוֶוה לִמְצוֹא מֵידָע כָּלְשֶׁהוּ שֶׁיְּבַשֵּׂר לִי עַל שׁיִחְרוּרִי וְעַל חַזָרָתִי הַבַּיְתָה בְּקָרוֹב.

As you can see I am holding in my hand the newspaper "Palestine" from today – September 14^th, 2009, which is published in Gaza. I am reading the newspaper with the purpose of finding information about myself and I hope to find some information that will announce my release from captivity in a short while.

אֲנִי מְקַוֶּוה וּמְחַכֶּה כְּבָר תְּקוּפָה אֲרוּכָּה לַיּוֹם שֶׁבּוֹ אֶשְׁתַּחְרֵר. אֲנִי מְקַוֶּוה שֶׁהַמֶּמְשָׁלָה הַנוֹכְחִית בְּרָאשׁוּת בִּנְיָמִין נְתַנְיָהוּ לֹא תְּבַזְבֵּז כָּעֵת אֶת הַהִזְדַּמְּנוּת לְהַגִּיעַ לְסִיכּוּם הָעִסְקָה, וכתוצאה מִכָּךְ אֲנִי אוּכַל לְהַגְשִׁים סוֹף סוֹף אֶת חֲלוֹמִי וּלְהִשְׁתַּחְרֵר.

I have been hoping and waiting a long time for the day I would be released. I am hoping that the current government headed by Binyamin Netanyahu will not waste the opportunity now to reach conclusion in the deal, and as a result I will be able at last to fulfill my dream and be released.

אֲנִי רוֹצֶה לִמְסוֹר ד''ש לְמִשְׁפַּחְתִּי וְלוֹמַר לָהֶם שֶׁאֲנִי אוֹהֵב אוֹתָם וּמִתְגַּעְגֵּעַ אֲלֵיהֶם מְאוֹד וּמְיַיחֵל לַיּוֹם שֶׁאֶרְאֶה אוֹתָם שׁוּב.
אַבָּא, יוֹאֵל וְהֲדַס, הַאִם אַתֶּם זוֹכְרִים אֶת הַיּוֹם שֶׁבּוֹ הִגַּעְתֶּם לַבָּסִיס שֶׁלִּי בְּרָמַת הַגּוֹלָן בְּתַאֲרִיךְ 31 בְּדֵצֶמְבֶּר 2005  שֶׁאִם אֲנִי לֹא טוֹעֶה נִקְרָא רְוָויָה ב'  

I want to send greetings to my family and tell them that I love them and miss them very much and I have been longing for the day that I would meet them again.
Dad, Yoel and Hadas – do you remember the day that you came to visit me in my Army base in Ramat HaGolan on December 31^st, 2005, which if I am not mistaken is called "Revayah Bet"?

עָשִׂינוּ סִיּוּר מִסָּבִיב לַבָּסִיס וְצִילַּמְתֶּם אוֹתִי עַל טַנְק הַמֶּרְכָּבָה וְעַל אַחַד הַטַּנְקִים הַיְשָׁנִים בַּכְּנִיסָה לַבָּסִיס.
אַחַר כָּךְ נָסַעְנוּ לְמִסְעָדָה בְּאֶחָד הַכְּפָרִים הדרוזים וּבַדֶּרֶךְ הִצְטַלַּמְנוּ בְּצִידֵּי הַכְּבִישׁ עַל רֶקַע הַחֶרְמוֹן הַמּוּשְׁלָג 

We had a trip around the base and you took photos of me on the Merkava tank and on one of the old tanks at the entrance to the base.
Then we drove to a restaurant in one of the Druze villages and on the way we took pictures in front of the snowy mountain of Hermon.

''אֲנִי רוֹצֶה לוֹמַר לָכֶם שֶׁאֲנִי מַרְגִּישׁ טוֹב מִבְּחִינָה בריאותית, והמוג'הדין מִגְּדוּדֵי אָז עָדִין אַל קסאם מִתְיַיחֲסִים אֵלַי מְצוּיָּן.
