Israelis are Healthier
According to a survey held by Teva Pharmaceuticals in nine different
countries including Israel, it turns out that our health is actually good
compared to the United States, the UK, Russia, Germany, Poland,
France, Chile and Mexico. Eighty one percent of Israelis feel that
they’re healthy compared to a world average of just seventy one
percent. Fifty three percent of the population here declare that they have
chronic health problems, in contrast of a world average of sixty percent.
Only eight percent of us have depression, compared to the world
average of fifteen percent. These are the data, and here’s a possible
explanation for the good results, “(You) have to take into account that
the population in Israel is younger than most surveyed countries, and
so some of the differences result from age differences.” But just a
moment, don’t be too happy yet, Teva Pharmaceuticals’ survey has
another part, less flattering for us – nineteen percent of Israelis have
cholesterol problems, opposed to just seventeen percent of the world
average, and possibly the most troubling (of all), seventeen percent of
Israelis admitted that they just don’t do anything for (their) health, as
opposed to twelve percent in other countries checked in the survey.
