ת ֶא ה ֶּ ב ְר ַ אָו ,ן ַ ע ָנ ְּ כ ץ ֶר ֶא ל ָכ ְּ ב ֹ ות ֹ וא ך ֵל ֹ ואָו ר ָה ָּ נ ַ ה ר ֶב ֵע ֵמ ם ָה ָר ְב ַ א ת ֶא ם ֶכי ִב ֲא ת ֶא ח ַ ק ֶאָו
ר ַ ה ת ֶא ו ָ ׂש ֵע ְל ן ֵּ ת ֶא ָו .וי ָ ׂש ֵע ת ֶא ְו בֹק ֲע ַי ת ֶא ק ָח ְצִי ְל ן ֵּ ת ֶא ָו ,ק ָח ְצ ִי ת ֶא ֹ ול ן ֵּ ת ֶא ָו ֹ וע ְר ַ ז
.םִי ָר ְצ ִמ וּד ְרָי וי ָנ ָבוּ בֹק ֲעַיְו , ֹ ותֹא ת ֶ ׁ ש ֶר ָל רי ִע ֵּ ׂש
In the beginning our fathers served idols; but now the Omnipresent One
has brought us close to His service, as it is said: "Joshua said to all the
people: Thus said the L-rd, the G-d of Israel, `Your fathers used to live
on the other side of the river - Terach, the father of Abraham and the
father of Nachor, and they served other gods.
"And I took your father Abraham from beyond the river, and I led him
throughout the whole land of Canaan. I increased his seed and gave
him Isaac, and to Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau. To Esau I gave Mount
Seir to possess it, and Jacob and his sons went down to Egypt."
